Dirty dishes are in the sink. Your hair is a mess and the baby needs to be fed. You didn't sleep very well and all you can think about is how good it's going to feel to crawl into bed tonight.
The reality is that life ain't easy but it sure is wonderful. When you slow down and live in the moment you're able to appreciate all that's unfolding right in front of your eyes. When you're running around like a crazy person you miss out on all the wonderful blessings around you.
Some days are better than others but there's something good in each day if you're quiet enough to listen and see it. Don't be afraid to leave the dirty dishes in the sink on a beautiful day so you can go outside and play with your kids instead. Don't be afraid to look the dirty dishes in the face and laugh because you simply don't have time to do them right now, and that's okay.
Life is full of dirty dishes but it's also full of beautiful surroundings, people and experiences too. The moral of the story is to take a deep breath and give yourself a break once in awhile. Stop beating yourself up and trying to be perfect. Embrace being perfectly imperfect and avoid comparing yourself to others all the time.
Count your blessings, practice gratitude and leave the dirty dishes in the sink some days because you simply don't have the energy to do them, and that's okay. When you do decide to clean them, do them slowly and mindfully as a way to decompress and relax. Look out the window, think about something that puts a smile on your face and feel the warm water on your hands as you decompress and feel proud that you've made it through another day (hopefully with your head held high).
