A Practical Weight Loss Plan

Losing weight is difficult and challenging for most. You're not alone if you've struggled with it in the past or continue to struggle with it today.

What you can't do is give up on yourself or tell yourself that it's not possible to shed the unwanted pounds. Instead, focus on adopting a practical weight loss plan that's realistic and can help to get you back on track and feeling great. Put the following tips into practice and it won't be long before you're looking in the mirror and loving what you see.

Keep A Food Journal or Diary

It's important to be honest with yourself about what you're putting into your body each day. One of the best ways to do this and not lie to yourself is to keep a food journal or diary. There are apps you can download on your phone or simply write it down in a small notebook and carry it with you. As time goes on you'll begin to see what foods may be hurting your diet and keeping you from losing weight such as bad fats and added sugar.

Get Moving

Losing weight is essentially a math equation. You're not going to be able to drop lbs if you're eating a lot and not working it off. Therefore, focus on getting moving each and every day to burn more calories. Find activities you enjoy doing and that put a smile on your face such as a group class or walking in your neighborhood. You may also want to consider adding in some resistance or weight training which will help get your metabolism going.

Identify an Accountability Partner

You don't have to follow a weight loss plan all by yourself. What you can do is identify an accountability partner who you can train with, eat better with and share your feelings with as you strive to improve your physique. It's a great way to keep yourself going when you're feeling tired or defeated. You may even want to consider starting a small group in Facebook where several of you who are trying to lose weight can gather and exchange ideas and encouragement.

Manage Your Emotions

Emotions also play a role in you being able to lose weight or not. Stress and not sleeping well may cause your body to hang onto the weight. Get in the habit of managing your emotions and recognizing when you need a break or to practice some self-care. Eating for emotional reasons is also a barrier and will make it more difficult for you to reach your weight loss goals.

The most important part piece of any weight loss plan is keep going strong even when you have setbacks. You simply can't give up on yourself and should celebrate even the smallest wins such as eating a healthy meal or hitting the gym. It's also a wise idea to get on the scale and weigh yourself weekly so you can monitor your progress and continue to be honest with yourself about how you're doing.
